If you’ve previously attended one of our weaving workshops or have a little experience in setting up and removing your weavings from a loom, plain weave and basic finishings, then this workshop is for you! Next Level Weaving is the perfect workshop for students wanting to grow and finesse their skills!
In this ALL DAY weaving workshop, Rachel will help you explore and develop your own personal weaving style by looking into the design elements and principals to creating your own woven masterpiece on a Classic Weaver, Jumbo Weaver or maybe you'll BYO your own loom. We’ll further explore the use of texture and colour and work with a range of unique materials to help you expand your weaving repertoire. We’ll experiment with new patterns, negative space, wrapping and binding and learn to master the appropriate finishing techniques tailored to your designs. Learn Rachel’s personal time-saving techniques and warping secrets that will allow you to take your pieces to the next level. Rachel will be incorporating elements from her own practice with re-purposed materials, yarn and other found objects . A workshop you won't want to miss!
As you may be aware, Wunder Weave Looms and Tool Kits are loving made right here in Melbourne. The hardwood is sourced from locally grown and sustainably managed varieties of gum trees purchased from a family-run local timber supplier.
All the timber used has travelled the minimum distance possible from harvesting to purchase. The timber is purchased in specific lengths that produce the least waste possible. You will find the option to select a VEGAN / ETHICAL yarn packs valued at $50 p/p - If you are to selection this option, Rachel will be in touch to discuss your favourite colour palettes. What to bring: Students are required to have basic knowledge of warping, plain weave and experience in removing their work from a loom. All other materials are provided, all you need to do is bring yourself. Feel free to bring along any materials you wish to include in your looms.
